Technique Blog Hop! Masking
You can start anywhere in the hop but if you would like to start at the beginning, please visit the fabulous Shirley’s Blog. You will see a listing of all the participants if you get lost or want to reference it along the way.
If you got here from Rachel’s blog then you are on the right track!
Here is my first mask example:
I used a post it note for my mask. First I stamped the image on my desired piece of paper. A second stamp of the same image on the upper corner of the sticky note (so that some of the sticky side is included on the back of the image) is then cut out and placed on top of the stamped image on your paper.
Then, stamp another image on top of the “masked” image. A background or texture stamp is a fun way to surround an image that has been masked.
For this first card I used the Dreamin’ Workshop on the Go papers and exclusive stamp set. Other items used: Colonial White Circle Cards Z1352, Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel Z1483, Natural Hemp Z280, Pacfica Ink Pad Z2192, Goldrush Ink Pad Z2123, and Chocolate Ink Pad Z2111.
For my second example I used the November Stamp of the Month Holiday Magic.
I made the mask from the stamp itself. Using a Spray Pen filled with water, re-inker, and create-a-shade pearl paint I sprayed over the stamp image set as it would be when being used as a stamp. In the negative space I then went back and stamped the image.
Other products used for this card are: Vineyard Berry Cardstock, Sweet Leaf Cardstock, White Daisy Cardstock, Green Button Assortment Z1371, Designer Ribbon Green Collection Z1616, Ponderosa Pine Ink Pad Z2145, Chocolate Ink Pad Z2111, Vineyard Berry Re-inker Z2257, Spray Pen Z1380, and Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint Z1039. The card base was made using the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection Z1686.
Thanks so much for stopping by! As you can probably tell I am very new at this whole blog thing so feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what, if anything I need to do to improve the experience!
Please continue onto Michelle’s blog for more masking inspiration!
Happy Hopping!
